The Deacons continue their member care in many areas (lending out medical equipment, funeral receptions, etc.), but wanted to update us on their Care Ministries for people in the community.
Blessing Bundles
Blessing Bundles are care packages for people who are experiencing homelessness. They can be kept in your car or bag and handed out as you encounter people on the street. These packages give a few necessities and a little hope to those who need. If you would like to take a few, they can be picked up outside either the Family Center or the Sanctuary.
The Card Ministry
This group of deacons sends cards to members celebrating birthdays. They also send cards to our college students – just to keep in touch and let them know someone at “home” is thinking of them.
MCEF – One Stop Shop (OSS)
Along with other Mechanicsville churches, Fairfield is supporting the operating expenses of the OSS. Now that the ministries of the Mechanicsville Churches Emergency Functions (MCEF) are under one roof (7235 Stonewall Parkway, 23111), area churches have committed to helping with the operating expenses. MCEF provides food, clothing, financial assistance, and transportation through Senior Rides to our neighbors in the 23111 and 23116 ZIP codes.
Downtown Lunches
The deacons have committed to providing the group United for Christ with twenty-five lunches once a month. This group distributes the lunches and ministers to travelers in the Richmond Greyhound Bus Station, as well as people who don’t have a home.
